The brief
Build a creative instrument in the browser: something that takes a simple input and turns it into a result the user can shape, keep, and share. Visual, musical, typographic, spatial, anything. The bar is simple: a first-time visitor should make something they like within ten seconds, and then discover it goes deeper.
This is not a productivity tool with a fun skin. It should feel like an instrument: immediate, expressive, a little addictive.
Heads up: this week gets one extra day. The build locks Monday night instead of Sunday night.
Required features
These are the floor. Hit all of them or you're not in the running.
- No signup, no setup: the visitor is creating within ten seconds of landing
- Immediate visual or audio feedback on every input
- At least one meaningful parameter the user can adjust, plus undo or reset
- Export, download, copy, or share the result
- Works on desktop, with a functional mobile experience or a thoughtful fallback
Bonus
The required list makes builds comparable. Everything above it is where you win.
- A parameter space deep enough that two users' outputs look nothing alike
- Outputs people post without being asked
- Sound, motion, or physicality that makes the instrument feel alive under the hand
- Anything that makes a voter lose ten minutes playing
Constraints
- Must be deployed to a public URL.
- Repo must be public.
- Built during the build window. Commit history is the receipt.
- The submitted project must be usable, not just a visual concept.
How it's judged
Community vote during the voting window. One upvote per submission. Top 3 take a trophy. Voters are asked to reward originality, immediate usability, expressive range, interaction quality, delight, technical execution, and polish.
